Girls’ Sports Soccer Volleyball Cheerleading Basketball T-ball Coach-Pitch Softball All Lutheran Track Meet Cross Country |

The sports program is offered when there are enough students to form a team. Some sports begin as early as Kindergarten. Generally, we participate in the Parochial Athletic Association, but sometimes we join other community leagues.
Athletic competition offers boys and girls the opportunity to play their best against other teams. Team members work as hard as possible while still enjoying the game. The goal is to play hard, play fairly, and have fun. Although it seems simple enough, many teams are unable to produce a similar understanding. Team unity is stressed in every sport. An individual can have an abundance of talent, but if the team concept is lacking, one very important goal has not been achieved. The players for Immanuel Lutheran School are helped to understand that they are part of a team. They are taught to support each other and help teammates lacking certain skills and/or abilities. Being part of a team means a commitment to attend all practices and games.
To many, the competitiveness found in sports creates a cloudy perspective. Winning becomes the only goal and measurement for success. Scoring more points, grabbing more rebounds, striking out more batters becomes the only focus. We must guard against this happening in our sports program.
Immanuel's teams want to win. They do win. However, they realize that sport is only a game. When the game is over, it is time to prepare for other challenges and aspects of school and adult life.
The youngsters may experience hardships and difficulties, but they are taught a perspective that should be found in everyone: Sports provides an opportunity for competition and enjoyment. They must not become a device used to deflate or inflate the egos of players or coaches.
Sports are games that involve strategy, ability, dedication, and perseverance. They also require a proper understanding of Christian character development. Our teams are to exemplify Christian sportsmanship towards their opponents as well as towards one another.
PHILOSOPHY
A. Immanuel Lutheran School recognizes participation in inter-school athletics as a vital extension of its curricular program contributing to the education and development of the "whole" child.
B. As part of the overall school program, the athletic program is:
1. Deserving of financial support for its operation (i.e. equipment, facilities, transportation, etc.)
2. Worthy of a significant investment of time by coaches, referees, and supervisors.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
1. To help children learn and develop the skills associated with competitive sports
2. To provide children with competitive experiences appropriate to their abilities
3. To help children develop Christian attitudes toward cooperation with team members and sportsmanship
4. To provide children the opportunity to honor a commitment to faithfully attend practices and games
PARTICIPATION FEES
Registration fees vary depending on the sport and age level. Teams either purchase uniform shirts or receive uniforms for their respective squads. The uniforms are checked out of the equipment room under the direction of the Athletic Director. Uniforms will be replaced periodically. The Athletic Director oversees all uniform purchases. After the season, uniforms belonging to the school must be cleaned and checked in with the Athletic Director. There will be an additional fee assessed for lost or damaged uniforms.
