Where did you attend college?
A: I earned my bachelor's degree at California State University at San Marcos, CA in 2002 and earned a CLAD Multiple Subject teaching credential there in 2003. In 2015, I earned a minister of religion degree from the LCMS University at Irvine, CA. With this degree, I became a called teacher for Lutheran schools.
What year did you join the staff of Immanuel Lutheran School?
A: 2023
What do you love about Immanuel Lutheran School?
A: First, I love the relationships I have built with my colleagues (the staff). We all have such unique qualities and strengths, we compliment each other in our working styles, and we support one another. Second, I love the enrichment opportunities we offer to our students and families. I think our specials classes give each student a place to grow and shine outside of the classroom. Last, I love how the church is involved with several of our school family events. Anytime we can have the church members see Jesus' mission being carried out, is only going to help both the church and school thrive.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
A: Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." There are so many things that challenge me or stress me throughout the day; things that are out of my control. I just try to tell myself, "Let go and let God take care of it." Let go, let God, for short!
What are three fun facts about yourself?
1. I have won awards for my guacamole recipe...several times. :)
2. My husband and I have been through a couple of mushroom identification classes together and we love to walk through forests and identify mushrooms.
3. Before moving to Tennessee, my husband and I used to go camping several times a year in parts of California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho in either a pop up trailer or a 15' camper. We once had a bear sniff around our tent while we were sleeping in the middle of the night. We saw the paw prints in the morning! Hence why we had a pop up trailer or camper from then on!
What is your favorite book?
A: All of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I love her hard but simple life!
