Athletics

Zach Croom - Physical Education Instructor, Athletic Director

Philosophy

Athletic competition offers students the opportunity to play their best against other teams. The goal is to play hard, play fairly and play fun! Teamwork is stressed in every sport at Immanuel. A student can be very talented but will never fully succeed unless they learn the importance of team play. Being on a team also means regular attendance at practices and games.  For many teams, winning becomes the only goal and measurement for success. We guard carefully against this happening in our athletic program. We definitely want our teams to win. However, we realize and stress at every level that school sports are only games. Christian character and development is emphasized and good sportsmanship toward opponents as well as teammates is required.

Registration

Registration is generally held in advance of the start of each season. Notices are given to students in class or can be picked up by parents in the school office. Registration deadlines are strictly enforced unless a child is new to the school. We must notify the each league in advance so that preparations can be made before the start of the season.  In addition to the registration form, each player must have a current sports physical form on file (updated annually). Rules and schedules for each sport will be distributed before the start of each season. Uniforms are provided at no cost for most school sports and will also be distibuted before the first competition.  Age requirement for all sports is determined by August 1st of each year.
