Week of SEPT. 23 — ELA: We will be working on our narrative essay this week. Students will have time in class for working on it, and having writing conferences with Mrs. Young, however they may also need to work on this at home, to make sure it is completed by Friday.
We have been working on crafting parts of a narrative essay, such as developing our characters, refining our sentences, and also working on our writing stamina. This essay will be graded. They will have organizers to help them with the plot of the story and there will also be a rubric in the google classroom for them to access as they create their essay.
When we are finished with the essay, we will start reading our next novels. In 6th grade, we will be reading Fish in a Tree. In 7th grade we will be reading Refugee, and in 8th grade we will be reading Animal Farm. There may be required reading outside of the classroom for these books, but we will put that on the board for students to put into their planners, as we go through the book.
JULY 20 – Note that parents of Middle Schoolers (6th, 7th and 8th grades) will meet together on Parent Orientation Night, rather than in separate class meetings. Mrs. Young, Mr. Duncanson and Mrs. Pollan look forward to greeting you on Monday, August 5 at 6:30 PM!
